10 restored classics to be on FIFF screening schedule

Fajr International Film Festival is set to screen ten restored historical films in the cinematic event in Iran.

Fajr International Film Festival is set to screen ten restored historical movies in the “Classics Preserved” strand of the event in Iran.

The festival's media committee said on Sunday that seven intentional as well as two Iranian films will be screened in such section of the event.

‘A Simple Event’ by Sohrab Shahid-Sales, Nasser Taqvaee’s ‘Captain Khorshid’ and Jalal Moghadam’s ‘House of God’ are the three restored Iranian films to be shown along with international classics such as Robert Bresson’s ‘Pickpocket’ and ‘Steamboat Bill, Jr.’ co-directed by Buster Keaton and Charles Reisner.

Established in 1982, Fajr International Film Festival is an event that celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.

Since its establishment, Fajr International Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of the Iranian Cinema.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the world every year.

The 35th Fajr International Film Festival is scheduled to take place in the country’s capital of Tehran from April 21 through 28, 2017.
